We value the factories and people in our supply chain. That’s why we’ve built long-term, collaborative relationships with our garment manufacturing partners. Many are family-run specialist businesses with deep expertise and a strong commitment to craftsmanship.
CRAFTED IN EUROPE
We work with a small, specialist network of garment factories in Europe to create our Baukjen pieces to a high-quality standard. Manufacturing in Europe supports production under established legal frameworks for labour rights and workplace standards.
The miles our garments travel are also significantly reduced by partnering with European factories. Being closer to the UK means we can prioritise road transport over air freight where possible. Air freight typically has a much higher greenhouse gas footprint per item transported than road freight, so avoiding it helps us reduce transport-related emissions.

LOWER IMPACT
Fashion should never come at the cost of the planet. Every factory we work with is a trusted manufacturing partner that shares our vision for circular fashion and is committed to reducing environmental impact. This may be through actively cutting water use and reducing wastewater (treating and controlling polluted water), which protects waterways from toxic chemicals. Or, choosing to power their sites with renewable energy, often through on-site solar panels, thereby reducing their emissions.
PEOPLE MATTER
The factories where our products are made are spacious, safe and clean environments that are punctuated with a lively atmosphere and dedicated people who are committed to the product they are making, and to reducing fashion’s impact on the environment.
Thats why we...
Factory & Supply Chain Code of Conduct
Our Code of Conduct is signed by allour factories. It is a contractual requirement that sets out our expectations for responsible business practices. Wecheck against these when we visit the factory facilities, which we aim to do at least once every year.
Key requirements include:
Employment is chosen freely, there is no child labour or forced labour in our supply chain.
There is no discrimination against race, age, disability, gender, sexual orientation or marital status.
All workers are paid a living wage that must meet the national legal standards.
Working conditions must be safe and hygienic .
Workers have the right to join or form trade unions of their choice.
WOMEN - LED FACTORIES
We are proud to champion women. As a female-founded brand, it is at the core of our business to continue supporting women through both our customers and our partners. That is why we highlight when garments are made in women-led factories, defined by us as factories where at least 25% of ownership is held by women.
HOW WE SHARE FACTORY INFORMATION
We track progress and spotlight the impact of each piece through defined sustainability attributes that are linked to the factory that made the garment. You can learn more about our factory attributes in our Glossary (definitions of the sustainability terms we use) here.
