Coronavirus is primarily transmitted through tiny droplets of saliva ejected when we speak, which is why wearing a mask is a simple but effective step to take to create a protective shield from these droplets. Research supported by Nobel prize-winning virologist Harold Varmus has shown that placing a layer of cloth in front of a person’s face stops 99% of the droplets.

It is important to remember that, whilst they are effective, these steps don’t replace the need for social distancing and hand-washing. We need to use the entire set of tools we have in our toolbox to stop this killer.

We have gathered 3 of the best low waste, DIY mask solutions for any skill level:

DIY Face Mask - Sew your own face mask
DIY Face Mask - Make your own handkerchief face mask
DIY Face Mask - Folder square scarf mask
DIY Face Mask - Folder square scarf mask

If you don’t fancy making your own mask, then wear and share ours. We have partnered with one of our manufacturers in Portugal to make non-medical masks for personal use. Our masks are sold in packs of 5, including 4 adult masks and 1 for a child up to 12 years of age. With every pack bought, we will send you an additional pack of 5 masks, to share with your neighbours.
