The Va-Va-Voom Dress

I wore the ultimate LBD tonight – an easy sartorialist choice for a Gucci/Harpers Bazaar dinner for charity Chime for Change held at the Sloane Street boutique.

I wanted to wear something that had a strict, sexy, minimalist feel – the charity is about female empowerment and I didn’t want to wear anything too frivolous. The Audley Crepe Dress ticked all the right boxes! It’s all about a sharp, graphic silhouette and not only does it fit like a glove – the nipped in waist is super flattering – but the long sleeves and below the knee length made me feel confident and chic.

Like most women, I love wearing black but hate it looking predictable or lazy so I always look for great detailing to give a look the right amount of edge. The skirt has a zip that goes up as high as you dare, showing just the right amount of leg, and I love this aspect of it – that angular slash of flesh makes it fashion forward. The back also opens up just at the top of the back so it’s got a sexy element from all directions.

To push the paired down vibe of the Audley Dress, I stuck to black accessories that were sharp and clean so the look was all about shape and silhouette. A classic Chanel quilted clutch, suede SUPER sexy Zanotti sandals and a perforated waist cincher belt from YSL. I made sure my jewellery was as graphic as the dress and went for an oversized gold Gucci chain bracelet and vintage geometric earrings. It added a little bit of an 80’s twist.

I love the sharp angles and general neatness of this look. A friend uttered va-va-voom! as I entered the room and this is how the Audley Dress shall be nicknamed from now on!
