Sports Luxe for Sports Day

Big day today in my ‘mummy’ diary- my eldest daughter’s first sports day. She was team blue and decked head to foot in electric shades (very a la mode) so I thought I’d sartorially give a subtle nod to my allegiances! These Felden Joggers are for me the perfect tracksuit pant – worthy of far more than house lounging or doing any actual physical exercise in. They’re super soft and comfortable, hang elegantly (especially round the hips which can so often be a disaster zone in jersey) and the tapered, lean ankle looks modern and stylised giving the pants a demi-harem feel.

I am grey obsessed, so the colour is an easy, natural choice for me, and I love the contrast with piercing bright blue. It’s that detail that sets them apart from your average jogger, making them on trend. The trim is also flattering because it draws your eye up and down, elongating the leg. There was a nip in the air so I threw on my Berwick Cable Jumper which played down the sporty look and added a bit of texture to the outfit. This soft knit is also a perfect combination of blue and grey. And to make sure the look had a bit of ‘pop’ and a fun touch, I added my blue Denbigh Bag. These days I only really ever do a cross body mini bag or messenger during the day for the need to be hands free. The shape of this bag is simple, the texture and colour a great outfit accelerator. High tops are my new love and these Maje foil ones are a little daring and lift the neutral look.

Finally I borrowed my husband’s sunglasses that he thinks are very Jude Law and with their brown lenses made everything look a little sepia and old fashioned. It was a hilarious day on the sports field with toddlers running riot and though team blue didn’t win, it is now officially my daughter’s favourite colour.
