To Mulberry in the Audley Crepe Blazer

I’m sitting in Vogue House reception in Hanover Square, about to belt it down the road to the Mulberry show (they always run late but something tells me I might be playing it a little cool with timing today..). I love this show and always make an effort to attend. Not only does it scream British Fashion with all it’s heritage and humour, but it takes place at possibly my favourite London spot- Claridges (I had my wedding after hours party here and also spent many crazy afternoons in the company of Isabella Blow who practically lived in the Fumoir bar when we worked together at Tatler). The hotel holds many special memories and I’m excited to trot along in my ankle breakers to see what’s up for Spring/Summer 2014.

I decided to go relatively casual today because it’s a Sunday and for some reason London Fashion week, especially at the weekend, makes me want to channel Kate Moss rather than Anna della Russo. I had an urge to go double denim and to smarten up my look, and give those shoulders a bit of definition, I’ve finished it off with my Audley Crepe Blazer. The tailoring on this jacket is so precise and flattering, especially around the arms which fit like a glove. Close fitting sleeves for me always look luxurious and are a must have in a fitted blazer. The Audley is a classic and essential item in my wardrobe. For me, it works a bit like a leather biker jacket, you can throw it over everything- even the most basic of looks- to give that nonchalant, semi-masculine finishing touch. It works well as a tux jacket worn with a white shirt and black trousers. Great with a pair of shorts. Today I’ve kept things very simple – my shirt and jeans work almost like a denim canvas on top of which I can use black accents to punch the outfit. The Audley Blazer teams up with the black of my IRO ankle boots, black and gold Gucci belt and bag by Louboutin.

I made it in time, the show was impeccable and great fun. The highlight- watching the reaction of the front row (Alexa Chung, Rebecca Hall, Juno Temple) as Mulberry clad dogs were cajoled down the catwalk- not a solemn pout in site. Smiles all round for next season!
